Notes: The 23rd century Romulan Bird of Prey was the primary starship of the Romulan Empire until the brief Romulan-Klingon alliance of 2268. The Bird of Prey operated as a stealth attack ship using its cloaking device and plasma torpedoes to destroy other starships before they could respond to its appearance. The plasma torpedoes were capable of destroying heavily fortified outposts or starships. The weakness of these ships was the power consumption of its primary weapon. The Bird of Prey was unable to cloak or use shields while firing leaving it vulnerable. Plasma torpedoes also were slow and had a limited range allowing the enemy to stay out of range.
